MSD designed and conducted a ground-breaking assessment of the principal justice sector institutions in Ecuador which provided base line information for subsequent major judicial reform efforts funded by other donors in Ecuador.   The activities included: bibliographic and field research to generate and collect basic justice sector data; the production of a report on research findings and recommendations; a major workshop sponsored by key counterparts including the Supreme Court and the Attorney General’s office, to review and discuss findings of the milestone report, “Evaluation of the Ecuadorian Justice Sector: Legal and Administrative Analysis.”  By performing the first-ever assessment of the justice sector in Ecuador, MSD greatly raised the awareness and understanding of the deep-seated and comprehensive problems permeating the entire Ecuadorian justice sector.
